About Release.art

Release.art is a UK-based consultancy that designs, builds, and reviews software, data, and automation systems for organisations operating under regulatory, audit, or governance scrutiny.

We focus on systems where correctness, traceability, and long-term operability matter more than speed of delivery or technical novelty. This includes regulated industries, high-trust commercial environments, and internal systems that must stand up to review by auditors, regulators, or senior stakeholders.

What we do

We work with organisations to help them:

  • Design automation that can be explained, reviewed, and defended
  • Introduce analytics, ML, or AI safely into existing operating models
  • Build document, data, and knowledge pipelines with clear provenance
  • Reduce operational risk without introducing unnecessary complexity
  • Review existing systems and identify where change is appropriate

Our work spans applied solutions, foundational services, and independent technical review.

For cloud infrastructure and data platforms, we typically work with AWS and Azure as preferred cloud providers, while accommodating hybrid or multi-cloud environments where required.

How we approach engineering

Release.art does not position AI or automation as a replacement for human judgement.

Instead, we design systems that support decision-making by making relevant information easier to access, verify, and review. Evidence, documentation, and explicit operating boundaries are treated as first-class requirements.

We favour:

  • Read-only or controlled data access where appropriate
  • Incremental delivery over large, risky rewrites
  • Human-in-the-loop workflows by default
  • Clear separation between assistance and accountability
  • Designs that can be maintained by real teams

This approach reflects how regulated and high-trust organisations are expected to adopt technology responsibly.

What we deliberately avoid

To remain effective in regulated contexts, we are selective about the work we take on.

We do not:

  • Sell generic platforms or “one-size-fits-all” solutions
  • Promise autonomous decision-making in compliance-critical systems
  • Optimise solely for speed at the expense of correctness or clarity
  • Bypass existing governance or operating controls
  • Treat documentation and auditability as afterthoughts

Where a problem is organisational rather than technical, we will say so.

Who we work with

We typically work with:

  • Regulated organisations and professional services firms
  • Internal engineering, compliance, risk, and audit teams
  • Organisations operating in high-trust or evidence-critical contexts

Engagements often involve collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including engineers, legal teams, compliance officers, and senior management.

How engagements usually begin

Most engagements start with one of the following:

  • A specific applied need (e.g. compliance review, document processing, evidence capture)
  • A desire to introduce analytics, ML, or AI responsibly
  • A review of existing systems to assess risk and automation readiness

From there, work progresses incrementally, based on evidence and agreed priorities.

A note on scope and responsibility

Release.art provides engineering, advisory, and review services.

We do not take on legal, regulatory, or operational decision-making responsibilities. Final judgement and accountability always remain with the organisation.

Our role is to help clients make better-informed, more defensible decisions, supported by systems that can stand up to scrutiny.
